Raised lead lettering
Hi Simon - Harold Crossley's book, "Lettering in Stone", has half a chapter
devoted to raised lead lettering. It includes a sequence of B/W photos
showing the process of cutting the sheets of lead, pounding the individual
pieces over shallow drilled holes in the stone (to anchor the lead), then
using a sharp chisel to cut the lead into letters.
This is the only info. I have seen on the subject so this might be the book
to get. If you want I could scan the pages and email them to you in the
form of .jpg files.
Cheers, Pete Bracken
