Raised Lead Lettering
Hi Simon,
Could you give me an idea of how deep those holes are on the monuments with
the missing letters? And what Diameter?
I've been sick for about a week and not able to carve stone. Machining is
still OK. I made up a sort of musket ball mold to cast the letter "O" @
1/8"thk and 1" high in lead with (4) 1/4"long x 5/32"dia pegs on the
back. "O" seemed to be an easy letter to try first. I find, that if the
drilled hole in the stone is a bit smaller than the peg, the letter sticks
in there pretty well. I'll send a pic after I tweak the process a bit more.
The mold's not quite what I envision yet but it works OK so far.
What would be an average height letter for this application be(capitals and
small letters)?
