There's an old saying that if you buy the best, you'll never be
disappointed. I'm inclined to agree with Bob Hackett that a quality
well-made tool is not only a joy to use, but is safer. He sounds like
he would know what of he speaks in this regard. (sorry for your trouble,
Bob)
Back in the day, fine tools were inherited treasures, passed from father
to son down the years. An older Stanley plane is worth a mint today.
Good tools become familiar friends that make work go better over the
years. They take on individual character and subtlety that enhances
their utility.
