Ah, that picture behind the eyes (also related to that "still, small inner
voice")!
Well said, Bob!
Isn't it interesting how everything knits together in a way (a Gestalt
principle, Clive!)
I notice how the right/left hemisphere discussion reappears here! An early
teacher of mine (psychology, Carl Whitaker) talked about the "corpus
colosum" (sp?), that nerve membrane which joins the two sides of the brain.
This is what we need to exercise - in art , in poetry ! The jump back and
forth. Both are essential. The flexibility to move back and forth also
essential!
By the way, I'm doing my first relief carving in stone. Can't believe how
difficult, how slow I am going. Layering, taking off less and less, rather
than more and more!! I finally got to use my dental picks, which my dentist
gave me. They work great for the fingers of the child (in the carving).
Any tips about relief carving, folks?
