relief carving
Hi all,
Like many of you I haven't done many reliefs but I find it thoroughly
enjoyable.
I sort of pretend that it is fat drawing and always remember, (keep
reminding myself) that it is modelling with light as opposed to creating
accurate form.
This is also where the "Diebenkorn chat" really come into play because your
greatest enemy will be the left side of the brain telling you that the form
isn't right even if it looks right, I did a 3/4 view of a head not long ago
and of course you just have to accept that looking at it from extreme left
or right, top or bottom, its going to be a bit weird. Look at from where you
are supposed to.
Reliefs really come into their own if you can control the lighting
circumstances.
