What a relief!
Hi All,
I appreciate the responses to my query about relief carving. A bit of research beforehand might have alerted me to the complexities of this simple carving. In any case, I am enjoying it as much as ever though I am going slowly!
Thanks to all for your breadth of experience and your sharing on this topic.
Re: pedestals, which I think are very important. I have been impressed by the master Brancusi regarding bases and pedestals - he often saw them as a part of the sculpture itself. This is obvious when you look at many of his pieces.
