Subject: [stone] Using stone in the presence of fire
Quoted text begins. Can rock be used directly with fire or do I
always have to work fire brick into the design somehow?
End of quote.
Hi Jerry, Welcome to the list. spent quite a few hours building
hard scapes for guys like you. As to the stone and direct fire,
you figured it out. Soapstone is about the only stone I can
think of that fire will not have an effect on either
instantaneously or over the course of several heat / cool
cycles. Get out to Schuyler in the Charlottesville area and
visit with the nice folks at New World Stone. They have the
goods.
