Quoted text begins. At some airports (Austin Texas) at least some
of the security folks won't let you carry a 3-5lb piece of stone in your
carry on - even when its obviously a sculpture. They say its a potential
weapon. YMMV g2
End of quote.
Back in the 80's I visited the old Yule Colorado marble quarry. I picked up
a roughly 1/3 cu. ft. block to bring home as a momento.
I wrapped it up in cardboard & carried it on the the plane. When I ran it
through the security Xray machine, and told the attendants
what it was, they looked at me like I was nuts for carrying along a hunk of
rock. They were probably right.
