Attaching an upright headstone to a base
attaching uprights with mortars is good for compressive loads-- not good
to resist vandalism. Silicone RTV is good for 20-30 years as a powerful
adhesive. Both have drawbacks. Heavy pins of aluminum, stainless or pure
teflon (1.5" dia) will work also. All have drawbacks.
how about the proven way-- use stone of more nearly cubic dimensions. Do
the stability math for 150 lb side force on the top.
sad duty. just did the same. used 30x30x40 high granite block on
40x40x12 thick granite base. not vandal proof, but resistant.
remember the gentleman fondly while you carve.
