firestones
When I was younger (read here " Too silly to know I was mortal") , many things were thrown in the campfire. Much experience proved that the only thing that would make more noise and throw more fire and sparks out of the fire ring than a .22 bullet was a piece of sandstone. The bullets were more fun, but the sandstone was more spectacular.
Yeah Yeah , I know it was dumb. But thing is , the bullet tends to stay in place , and the brass shell shoots off. That does not hurt as much, usually. This is assuming the brass does not come to rest against a more massive object before cooking the powder off.
An interesting adventure in applied physics.
Warning..... we were professionals... do not try this at home!
Proof once again that survival of the fittest is only a theory.
