Thank You John Sir !
I will visit with Quade at Texastone , used to work with him , I think he is some kinda pumpkins.
Used to work with him at the concrete plant. Heard he said of me the other day " Ivey is a fun guy to work with , but he will work your tail off". Not a bad rep to have !
I have been hooked up with a short rope to the work wagon for about the last year and a half, and about the time the sun goes down , so do I. Currently building a windmill farm southwest of Abilene, 3 miles from Coronado's Camp, where Coronado and his men camped in 1541 a deep hole of water in the creek there.
Putting the things up on the old artillery range for Camp Barcely, the WW2 camp where the 12th Armored Division trained for their little swaray into Europe. Power company has spent a fortune clearing dud shells, mortor rounds, landmines.......but still finding them now and again. Keeps one aware of where he is stepping.
Moving from here to Buffalo Gap, putting them up on the west side of the gap in the hills where the Great Southern Buffalo Herd used to pour through, will erect 70 mills there, makes a total of 210 mills, will supply enough electricity for 35 to 40 thousand households.....depending on the number of long haired girls in those households. Those silly hairdryers are energy hogs !
The rock in this country is pretty good rock, our excavations for most of the mills are 5 foot deep, so you go through3 inches of top soil, then shelf limestone, good clear rock , but only about 8 inches thick. Then into cliché, and deeper down you might hit sandstone , not very good sandstone though.
Drive down Highway 277 tween Abilene and SanAngelo and you will see a pretty good representation.
I traded some gravel to the dynamite guy the other day , gave him some gravel and he will let me push the plunger on the next blast they do. All this fun and I get paid too ! And have a picnic every day ! Life is GRAND !
Aw, I guess I am blathering on, and way off thread. But Very Good to see ya'll again, and Thank YOU ! Sir for the leads on Pecos Red! Kent Lee Ivey
