Idle chatter
Hello All,
It seems a little slow today so I thought I would make some idle chatter.
Wednesday morning.........I wake up fairly grumpy, Deja' vue? I think it
comes from making semi-loads of flagstone lately. Anyhow, my benches have
been giving me nice loafs for flag, really exploitable strata. Not
today....... :( 5" - 6" stuff mostly devoid of clues. I did save time by
already being grumpy though.......and it was only 85 degrees.
Thursday morning............Drove down county C to work, it's a nice day,
feeling excellent. Today I was reminded how quickly things change
geologically. Yesterday even feels better now, I banked the large stone. It
will go, we cannot seem to get a back-stock going, it moves to fast. Todays
loafs are producing monster flag and lots of regular flag. In the next 3
days I will be pulling stone out that shows promise for 4' x 8' x 1 1/2" -
3" monster flagstone. This quarry is giving up a 8 color spectrum too,
unbelievable. I've memorized the seam colors now. If I can get a back-stock
going, I will be able to sort this stuff better, no time, and it's just my
trusty skidder and I.
I will be doing some stone mason classes on weekends soon. I have some
younger fellas to train, so I will get a curriculum set-up, may as well
compile something. If you would like to train to become a excellent mason or
get a general introduction to stone carving, inquire by email. In a few
months we will have a 4' CNC saw set-up too.
