where is everyone
Hi all,
I was on a great rock hitting vacation !! We took small pieces of
limestone and some hand tools up into the wilderness of the mountains
of Colorado....a small cabin on 40 acres surrounded by the Pike
National Forest. I taught myself how to carve without air tools !!
Slow but very rewarding !! The weather so SO much nicer than here in
SW Missouri !! The hiking was awesome and hunting the local stone was
a lot of fun !! Nothing I would want to carve tho.....white and pink
quartz and a pink granite. I was surprised to find the granite had
very smooth sides...like it had been polished. The best place to find
the stone was where large trees had fallen and the roots had uprooted
piles of stone....
We also went to Loveland to a bronze foundry. Spent an entire day
with them ....it was fascinating !! The pouring, the wax chasing, the
metal chasing, the patinas.....LEARNED A LOT !!
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer !!
