Count Rumford
Quoted text begins.we've met at (of all places) the Ottawa Police station
during a sculpture expo
End of quote.
Will and Oscar, just what did you get up to at the sculpture expo?
Will: Regarding Rumford fireplaces, I have been using the Count's principles
to show students how to build a simple but effective chimney. We incorporate
an arched opening, and the structures are built on a 4' square forklift-able
concrete slab. Bit of a strange concept in subtropical Brisbane, where solid
fuel burning fireplaces are banned in new houses.
Do you always include a damper in your fireplaces? I understand they stop the
cold air sliding down your neck when the fire is not burning.
