Subject: The Wikipedia Challenge

Righto, now we're all back from doing those other things that keep us away
from the Stone List, I'd like to propose a challenge: Initiate or contribute
to stone-topic pages in Wikipedia.

List members have posted at length about setting up websites and adding photos
to photo-sharing sites for the purpose of promoting works and sharing images.
We've also referred countless websites to the List, sparking discussion and
highlighting interesting techniques. I believe that Wikipedia can provide us
with yet another forum to advance our interests in all things stone.

This challenge is not meant to compete with Portland Sculpture and Quarry Trust
ideals that drew us all together - only to complement them.

I've started things off with a humble contribution on the subject of "Lewis
(Lifting appliance)". The inspiration was my tax return. I'd rather do
anything else, and I've got the bags under my eyes to prove it.

You can find my pages by googling for "wiki lewis lifting appliance",
and scrolling down past all the other 'Lewises'. I noticed that two online
free dictionaries have already claimed my work... ah well, the price of fame.

Please visit the pages that I've set up, and feel free to edit them in the
Wiki style. Or start your own topic - but please choose something more
interesting than 'lifting appliances'.

Simon
