What kind of stone is this?
I'm working with a considerable amount of gray stone which I rescued from
the excavation for a highway.
Can anyone recommend a book about stone/minerals, with high quality images,
to help me figure out what kind of stone I have here? Or a website with high
resolution images?
I do know that it was all deposited here on Long Island by glacial action.
Some of it was rubbed smooth by the journey; and looks almost polished. Some
is rough, grainy.
Any suggestions on how to identify it all will be greatly appreciated.
