Vacation?
Nope not vacationing!
My chisel is moving stone by the ton weight. The list got slow so I took a
break from typing.
Welcome to the group Will, I hope that you will be able to post some of your
data on mortars. I always enjoy seeing other folks ideas. I am a custom
mason/stone cutter just so you know.
Madison, I am excited to hear of your friends book effort. I would love to
see ALL of the photos! and the book of course.......
Simon I think that dampers are initially intended to control combustion, the
added downdraft protection is a plus though. The downdraft is controlled for
the most part by a properly positioned smoke shelf. The exterior side of the
flue is always colder so I like to start my shelf plumb with the back of the
flue. I usually run 6" of smokeshelf and 6" of 28" or 30" damper when I work
with 12" flues. I spend the extra money and choke up with firebrick too,
it's worth it. When I add exterior air feeds on these babies, you could
smelt iron.
Have a good day, daed
