dust on gilding
Don,
The idea of sanding with the stone in a vertical or overhanging
orientation had occurred to me as well (though too late). Also,
decreasing the sanding rate while greatly increasing the water flow may
help. The affinity of the slate fines for the metal impresses me. I
would have thought that once the gold surface is wet that the particles
would not adhere to it and be readily flushed away, but they stick real
good.
