Soapstone dust

It's a matter of physics-- you can not easily see the small
particles that you inhale. They fill the air, and are always created
whenever soapstone (or, for that matter, almost any stone) is worked.
Safety First.
Limestone might interest you. When a good quality, it is almost pure
calcium carbonate, which is a basic "antacid tablet" chemically. Very
much unlike asbestos containing stones, safety wise.
