Subject: Moving big stones cheaply

Hello Archie,
I was reading your letter about the 3x3x8 blocks of marble. I figured that
the blocks are about 6 tons a piece, and there is not a loader available.

Tools that may be needed: 8 10 ton jacks, shovel, a hand winch, 40' of
chain, 10 4' long 6" diameter logs, and a good 8 ton trailer. depending on
your decision you may need 2 10' steel beams also.

#1 Hopefully there is a small hill or ridge near by to position the stone
on, if not a trench could be dug for the trailer so you can get under the
elevation of the stone. Then the logs come into play. #2 If your really
lucky and the trailer does not have sides, and your unlucky and the stone is
on flat parent bedrock, the stone could be jacked in place to the required
height by resting it on 2 10' steel beams. 3' of jacking is about all you
would need, get the lowest trailer that you can. (10' should be enough to
clear the sides of the trailer so your not hitting your jacks and pilings.)
Get it up and carefully back under it. Do a little more jacking to get the
steel out and walla! Tie your load, go home and reverse the process.

If your not up to this you may find a moving company that will do it. I take
all sorts of stone jobs also, I charge $400.00 cash per week traveling with
all expenses paid in the continental U.S.. I'm a pretty cheap date, lol.
Just drop me a line, I'm a tramp. I own some powerful trucks, and I have
LOTS of equipment. When the customer has equipment in place I am happy
riding the train to and fro. I have state and federal MSHA certification for
working on mining properties and I work in compliance with OSHA standards. I
am trained in HAZMAT awareness also. I will take care of any insurance
requirements you may desire. Accidents can and will happen, but I endeavor
to get everybody home in one piece at the end of the day, no matter what the
circumstances may be.

Qua Vadis, daed
