Alabama Marble Cost + Pictures
Beware if you buy material that cheap for carving, take a look at it before.
We sell our scrap material that price but it is a quality so low that
usually, it can only be used for landscaping or to crush in 1/4 inch gravel.
Let me try to answer some of the responses to my $25 a ton for Alabama
marble message. These blocks belong to a small independent quarry which I don't
even think it is a marble quarry.
As to John Halter's question about being blasted. I have not seen an answer
posted yet. Is it possible that they were split with wedges and shims, since
the drill holes on the sides are quite close together?
I could take digital pictures, but could you really tell from pictures if
they were blasted.
The real answer have somebody that understands marble look at them. The
quarry is about 50 miles south of Birmingham, Alabama. If anyone would like to
see the blocks, let me know and I would be happy to assist in a visit.
