Alabama Marble?
Are you able to tell if a stone was quarried with explosives by examining
it? If so, what do you look for? Or do you have to actually go to a quarry
and inspect their processes?

I find that not to be the question! I don't normally go to a quarry for stone. BLM for example, will let you take up to 5 ton without a permit. Trucking around with the 'Stoneman' Joe Page in NM taught me that it's how long it's been out of the ground. If I find a place that I can extract from,
I will look for stone that is: 1/ out of the UV 2/ not been through a freeze/thaw cycle (more than two foot underground, how deep do you bury pipes ? ) 3/ still has rain water around/through it. Now my stone is 'Green' I.e. in its normal condition, as if it where still underground. Now all I have to look out for is how much junk is in the stone etc.
