About pitching.....
I have used old pitching tools....a BIG hammer and a chisel sort of thing
called a pitching wedge....?.....it's a large chisel shaped piece with a
slanted cutting edge. They vary in width. I score the stone first, all
around, then start in with a HEAVY hammer ...can not tell you what it weighs
...I just go thru his hammers and find one I can swing over and over again.
I have successfully (sp) pitched a number of pieces....HOWEVER...nothing
over 5 inches in thickness.... It was
beautiful.....LIMESTONE...Indiana...AND I"M A WUSS !!!! 5 foot 9...132 lbs
and I still want to know about a relief design ( A bird I believe) done in
a large stone, and by , I believe, Walter A.,and the rest was pitched away
from it.....a simple explaination......I'm all ears.....
Just a hay penny worth of cents.....
