Subject: Inexpensive Air Compressors

The general issue of air compressors has been discussed via this forum on
several occasions in the past. I would like some additional advice if
anyone has the time. My situation is; carving mostly marble and limestone
using Trow & Holder B Series hammer and thinking about using a pneumatic die
grinder and perhaps some day an air turbine tool. I am able to carve mostly
on weekends for about 6 hours a day. Most of my sending is currently done
using 3M Roloc diamond pads with a standard drill and a drip line. I am
currently using a Porter Cable twin tank portable construction unit that
makes quite a racket and would like a more quiet solution but am considering
constructing an insulated compressor enclosure to make my spouse and child
happier when I am carving.

I am considering an upright tank between 15 ro 30 gallon capacity.

Air production of 3.5 CFM @ 90 PSI to 5.7 CFM @ 90 PSI.

Direct drive, twin belt drive or two stage belt with splash lubricant.

Most Affordable solution that does not waste the investment.

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated as well as recommended
sources for purchasing such a compressor or re-furbished compressor.

Regards;
