I have a similar question regarding pitching for large quoin stones. I
want a look similar to the stones in the pictures below. I'll be using
slightly smaller stones, 11" thick. For pitching a face on that surface
will I have to go to a bull set? Or does anyone think I could use the
Trow and Holden Hammer Set, which is a 4 lb hammer with a 2" pitching
edge (may be 2.5" don't have my notes handy). The idea being you would
buy one with a vertical pitching edge, one with a horizontal, then you
have a sort of "one man bull set". Use one hammer to strike the other.
Since I'll be working alone I like this idea vs a bull set.

(for those who care, the original building the above arch was reproduced
from)

The above is granite (in the reproduction), but I'll be using limestone,
similar to this

If anybody is in the Ottawa area and knows who did the reproduction arch
pictured above I would love to know. No one at the city knew.

Thanks!
Greg.
