Stone church 'shedding'
A late 19th Century church in my area is shedding flakes of stone from the
outside surface of it's walls. Some of the flakes are as thick as 2" at their
thickest, and most taper off on the edges.
I'm wondering if this was caused by some kind of fractures or weaknesses
imparted to the stones during the original cutting.
