Unedited Work and Taxes
My taxes go to support art.....most of us think we work harder than the next guy, and a lot of folks think art, or thinking, or creativity of any sort that does not involve big stacks of stuff is not work.
Most here know better than that.I work regular 10 hour days , that average just beating out the 11, 12 or 14 hour days, and in a field that allows little creativity. Big stacks of stuff that need to be moved into other stacks of stuff, yeah , it is hard work.
But at the end of the day, or at the usual 4:30 in the morning, I get to sit here with people I admire, people who are living the dreams I yearn for, people who see things in stone that always amazes and intrigues me.
Yeah , I pay my taxes, and yeah , some "art" seems to me an outrage..... but I would not have it otherwise.
I am exposed here to thoughts and ideas that would never come my way in 100 years with the folks I rub shoulders with... or at least not in this concentrated, convivial, helpful way.
I thank you all for who you are , and for the encouragement I see so many of you give so freely and with love to those like me who can usually only dream of the things you do every day.
The measure of a civilization it seems to me is how they support art... I would be an art supporter over an athletic supporter any day.
Thanks !
