Pieta Del Duomo
The actual situation is that like the vast majority of researchers I've
known over the years I truly love the work I do everyday. You do the
job, not the hours which are commonly 50-60 a week. You do them because
you really want to. Sometimes there are days, holidays or weekends,
when you come to work just because an experiment is coming to
completion and you can't think of anything you'd rather be doing. When
you're driving, and when you can't sleep at night, you're thinking
about your data. Reading the day's mail in the morning doesn't prevent
one from getting the job done. I would imagine the personal involvement
is not unlike that of the working artist.
