stone carving workshop
Guys,
Indeed, we quarry with explosives. But the main quarrying is done with wire
saws. The final cutting is done by drilling and using low blast primacord,
just to separate the stones.
It doesn't affect the stone as we do tiles, slabs and memorial products.
Many different sizes are available and the standard quarry block is actually
7-6 x 5-0 x 3-0.

As far as I know they still quarry blocks without explosives . . . the
standard size quarry block of Georgia marble is/was 8' x 8' x 8' - so --
YES, 5 ton plus block is/was available, though FYI it has been a year or
two since I asked them directly about their product . . .
