Project Neon media file sharing
Hi everyone,
I would like to bring 'Project Neon' peer-to-peer (P2P) media file sharing to
the attention of fellow listers. I have been playing with a digital video camera
lately, trying to get used to it, and have some movie files of the sculpture
symposium to share. I apologise in advance for the quality, it can only improve!
Project Neon requires installation of a 6+ MB program file, and because it is
real-time, requires that users are online at the same time (synchronous). There
is also a chat facility. It is free, and you can respond to an invitation, or
download it yourself at http://www.projectneon.divx.com/
My sign-in name is simon72681
Timing may be a problem, as my time zone in Eastern Australia is Greenwich Mean
Time (GMT)+10, while other northern hemisphere list members are spread between
GMT-8 and GMT+1.
If you are interested in sharing files, please respond through the discussion
forum, or email me privately. I am keen to see if this idea works!
In mentioning the discussion list, a little while ago, there was some concern
that the stone list was in decline. According to the counter on the Fotki photo
sharing site I recently updated, 60 separate inquiries were made on one album in
one day, with 800 hits last time I looked- the counter is reset each day because
I have a free account. I think that this number of visitors proves the list is
in a fairly robust state, despite the occasional lull in postings.
