gluing slate to granite
Karen,
This sounds like a cleaning problem. No quality of glue is sufficient
to bond a surface if the surface is coated with fine dust. The bond is
then between the glue and the dust and you are depending on the adhesion
of the dust to the stone. It's a bit like dusting a cake pan with flour
to prevent the batter from sticking. You may need to pressure wash the
surface first and then allow it to dry thoroughly.
