The last time Tom Perkins came from the UK to teach at Cheerio, the
workshop filled quickly and had a long waiting list. The food is
surprising good at this week-long session.

Tom Perkins Letter Cutting May 12-17, 2006. Introduction to Lettering
in Stone II
A rare opportunity to study lettercarving with a master, Tom
Perkins will lead you through the methods & practice of designing a
small inscriptions and carving them into slate or stone. Through example
and demonstration, students will get a rare insight into the step-by
step process of this beautiful art. Subjects: design, transfer to stone,
tools, working methods & proper technique & practice, the qualities of
fine lettering and inscriptions. There will be Tom's excellent work to
draw inspiration from in the form of handouts and slides. There will be
a materials fee. Cost: $545 for instruction, meals, lodging.
Semi-private and private rooms available ($625, $685). $100 Deposit.

illustrations that make it valuable for everyone. Examples are very
different from British books on lettercarving. From Germany. Recommended
by Reggie Ezell, Hazel Dolby & others for the lettering as well as the
carving.
