gluing slate to granite
Thanks John & John,
Although I did not power wash it, I did use a hard spray from the hose to
clean it... but I did not clamp it which makes me mad - I almost clamped it
and then thought I would just add the weight of a couple more slabs of slate
on top of it instead. Live and learn I guess, and no harm done, just needs
doing over. Have you found roughing up the surface necessary with gorilla
glue?
As I've said before, everyone involved in this list is a great resource, and
as usual I am grateful for all the exchanges, whether pertinent to my
immediate situation or not.
There's a new local business here with a great motto that I think applies to
this list as well. "CONSPIRE TO INSPIRE".
Happy Carving to you all,
Karen
Quoted text begins. This sounds like a cleaning problem. No quality of glue is sufficient
to bond a surface if the surface is coated with fine dust.
Another thing about Gorilla glue that I have learned is that the two pieces
being glued NEED to be clamped. The glue expands during the curing
process, and will push the glue joint apart.
End of quote.
