gluing slate to granite
You said in your previous letter that the side that let go was the slate
side not the granite and you also said that the slate had a rough
surface and the granite a smooth - if you did clean all dust off then
perhaps the surface of the slate was too irregular for the glue to make
a good bond you may need to smooth it out before you glue it - If you
did put several other pieces of slate on top that would have served as
well as a clamp so I doubt the lack of clamp was the problem.
