profile carving
Hi all,
Carving looking at the back of the chisel! You've got to be joking,
Where's the "profile" in an internal concave form?
Mind you the posting did have we waving my arms about in front of my
computer trying to fathom out why I don't get hit in face all the time by
flying chips.
I came up with the answer that I carve away from myself and even though I'm
looking at where the chisel has to go it is showering chips away from me.
The only time it can get problematic is when I go from South to North, so to
speak, but even then you have to be crazy to stick your face in the way.
I don't think this question has got anything to do with where you look but
how you place your head while you are carving, you can only really get hit
in the eye if your eye is ahead of the chisel, that could only mean that you
are carving towards yourself, never a good idea!
Am I missing something other than the chips?
Clive
