Sculptors,

No one is saying to not wear safety glasses! So see past those words
to the meaning behind them. For over 2000 years people have been
carving stone before eye protection existed. So any technique that
would sends chips flying near the face can not have been the technique
use for all those centuries. Obviously power machines require strict
use of eye protection. I don't care personally how anyone carves or
how much proective gear they feel they need. I am just interested in
our historical legacy, our fellow artists of the past whom I have
often admired, and how they must have worked. There are sure a lot of
sculptures in the world that were carved using those techniques before
any of us came on the scene. Maybe people think they know more than
the ancients. I am personally humbled by them and try my best the live
up to their high standards. So anything that they did is of interest
to me.
