Information on letter cutting workshops worldwide (!)
Hi David,
I assume you are already trained in carving letters? If not, there seems to
be a rather famous workshop of Kindersley, also in the UK.
I can only tell you something about the situation in the Netherlands.
Carving letters (as I do myself) is seldom done in Holland; most of the
letters are made by sandblasting. Fortunately for me (and hopefully for you
too) there still are people who can appreciate a hand-cut letter (and can
afford it). There are no workshops for professionals in Holland, as far as I
know, although I give workshops myself, for amateurs and sometimes for
fellow carvers. (I always thought that the UK was the ultimate
letter-land.....)
I am interested in the outcome of your question, since I like to get some
more training myself (e.g. one week-workshop, somewhere..), especially in
drawing letters directly onto the stone.
Good luck,
Michiel Deylius
