art scam
Gary,
This may not be a scam but I have read that something similar happens in
selling cars internationally. The key is the certified check. Your bank will
credit the certified check to your account within a few days or a week.
Unfortunately it may take 3 weeks or more for a well written international
certified check to bounce. The scam folks are very clever.
The other part of the scam is the "excess funds". Once the check clears
your bank you are expected to give the agent the excess funds for shipping.
Then even if you never ship the sculptured you are out the shipping costs when
the check finally bounces.

Greetings Carvers, I just received the following email (see below) which
on first inspection appears to be some sort of scam. (Just so you know,
I don't ship things that are not paid for unless I'm dealing with a
reputable gallery.) Anybody heard of this scam or know what's going on?
