Symposiums - How to get started
My experience with symposia is limited to two very wonderful summers spent
in Carrara (1985) and the following year in a smaller symposium in Pognana
del Lario ( near Como, on the road to Bellagio). I don't know how the other
countries handle their participants, but in Italia, it was a revelation and
highpoint for me. We were probably not given all the 'respect' we deserved
by the organizers, but the opportunity to land in another country and work
for a given period of time, with the artigiani of the local regione, was an
experience that I would not trade for all the tea in Hualien. I have no
experience with "symposia" where you pay for the privilege of doing your
work, but I would definitely recommend any other symposium as long as you
are allowed the freedom to execute your work with minimal outlays on your
part.
Good Luck
