Quartz
Eric,
Since quartz is chemically the same as glass (SiO2), the most effecient
tools would be diamond carving tips for a rotary tool.
I have not, and probably will not ever carve quartz, or even try it.
However I have seen many small "fetish" type carvings in different quartz
minerals, and once a rather large (200 lb??) carving of the sitting buddah
carved in rose quartz.
