Alabaster staining
I have found that this is one of the tricks that the Italian alabaster
turners have been very successful at keeping to themselves. I am still
playing at this, using a lot of varying methods.
The only thing that I can tell you at this time is that stone turners in the
US have taken to putting the alabaster into vacuum pots with glue to
stabilize the stone before turning. This seems to me a good way to get an
even colour throughout the stone with what ever one is using to stain.
