Quoted text begins. I didn't answer your question, but you touched on one of my favorite

Over the summer we toured Yosemity. I don't care how many great
pictures one
can look at, nothing compares with going there. The wall paper on my
computer is a picture of El Capitan rising 3000 feet up over the trees
on a
perfect blue sky!

Yosemite has to be one of the most special places on the planet. I've
been there several times, including in snow. The first time was back in
the '80s. I almost lost control of the car coming out of the Wawona
tunnel, the view was so beautiful. I also remember hiking up to the
base of El Cap and wondering how much it bulges out, just from the
pressure of the better part of a mile of stone above it. A few years
back while trying the Steck-Salathe route on El Cap I took a 40 ft
fall, breaking both wrists in several places and bruising a kidney.
Also lying in the meadow at night, listening to the coyotes howl and
watching moonlight fall onto the Wall of the Early Morning Light. I
love the place.
