I often find you have good, grounded comments on this list, Gary. I have no
problem with your post so I guess I'll say that here on the list :o)
I muse whether there is an urban / rural culture split evidenced in this
thread...? Urban sprawl is more insidious than just houses. In cities,
boundaries and protocols (sp?) are very present and necessary because of the
density of people living on top of each other. In the old countryside, old
common sense seems still at work in many places.
We say "good fences make good neighbours." We also know we need our
neighbours.
I like what one person mentioned, that people who like stones like having
wonderful things made from them! There is a nearby quarry that grinds rocks
for road construction. Beautiful blue and white marbles, green and yellow
serpentines. The owner is so chagrined he welcomes sculptors to the quarry
on Sundays when the equipment is shut down to gather stones as they wish.
(With prior arrangement of course)
It's not that hard to forage throughout the countryside, find beautiful
boulders, and still keep friendly neighbourly relations. Kinda like we want
to treat each other on a virtual internet list :o)
Joy to all, for the rebirth of the divine child within us all !
Oscar
