Hello Gary,
Are you saying that with the fitting on the inside popped out, your arbor
hole is now 7/8 inch instead of the original 5/8 inch? If so a couple of
locknuts made for Makita grinders will work and avoid the worry of your
loose fitting. The Makita locknuts have a center ridge on one side which
acts as a spacer for the larger arbor size. So first you put on one of the
locknuts with the ridge up. Second you put your blade on it (without the
loose fitting) and the Makita's ridge makes a snug and centered fit. Third
you sandwich the blade with the second Makita locknut placing this one with
this flat side against the blade (the ridge again faces up) making a tight
squeeze on the blade.
I have found these two locknuts very vauable in fitting a variety of blades,
cup wheels and grinders but fliping them into different combinitions. If I
get a blade with the inner fitting, I am likely to just knock it our and use
the Makita set up I have described.
If this does not make any sense, let me know and can send you some pictures
off list. Once you see these Makita locknuts you'll get it right away.
