Rockface granite
Bob,
I recently made some rockpitched bases from 1 inch thick granite countertop
scraps. While the stone looks great, I found it to be very fragile and
unpredictable. Pitching the stone was possible, but I had a lot of waste.
Each kind of granite pitched differently.
While I've never used one, the beaver tool which I think just bites off
pieces by leverage pressure might give me more controll and reduce the
scrap.
Seems to me that a lot of unpitchable granite is being sawed up into counter
top slabs. With the use of diamond saw blades and no need to hit the stone
with a hammer, this kind of granite is just fine.
Good luck,
George Graham
