Polishing Granite or Basalt
I have some gorgeous black basalt with white inclusions that I have been working on. I have polished some of it with great results: a deep black, shiny luster. Other pieces though get a glass-like surface but a cloudy finish without the deep, clear luster. I have gone up to 3,000 to 5,000 to 10,000 grit with both results. I am using an alpha water lubed pneumatic polisher. Could I be going too fast or too slow or too much water or pushing too hard or not hard enough?
