Polishing Granite or Basalt
Did you use any acid in the polishing process? I once used hydrochloric
acid to remove tool marks from a textured area and oaxcilic acid in final
polishing and ended up with a clouding effect on Portoro Marble. Which is a
hard brittle black marble with gold veining. I have been told the stone is
extremely vulnerable to acid (even acid rain if placed outdoors). I have
repolished the piece twice by hand with no improvement. Whatever went
wrong is more than skin deep. Any connection with you situation?
