Polishing Granite or Basalt exposure to acid in nature
Soil and groundwater can be much more acidic than just acid rain, because of
the presence of plant matter. The acidity is greatest in areas covered by
evergreen forests.
You can find places where the ground is covered in needles to a depth of a
foot or more, it feels like walking on a mattress, due to the fact that the
high acidity kills the bacteria that are responsible for the decomposition of
organic matter in deciduous forests.
