Introducing myself
hey Charlie,
Scotland not cold enough for you? or was it the love of a Finnish
maiden (their charm is legendary) that lured you there?
Finland has a great tradition of stonework, a contemporary example,
which you've undoubtedly seen, is Temppeliaukio, the Church of the
Rock, aptly named as it was actually blasted out of and built from
solid stone (gneiss, I believe) though the quality of the masonry is
sub-par.

there might be opportunities for those creative impulses of yours in
public art; the Finns, like their other Scandinavian neighbours, have
a healthy respect for ART.
I'd be interested to see what those eStonian masons have been up to.
if you have photos, please share them.
keep warm, keep well and keep up the good work.

p.s.the next issue of STONEXUS Magazine, due out in February will
have a lengthy photo feature on the stonework of Scotland,
particularly the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland Islands (as well as an
article on St. Kilda).
Quoted text begins.Hello,
Nice to have found a comprehensive and interesting site
dedicated to the world of stone/work. I am originally from Scotland but
now resident in Finland.
