As I said, I don't know what polishing or reflection is but the
alignment of molecules you describe seems somehow unlikely in
crystals. My vague recollection is that the overlap of the atomic
orbitals is very much restricted to certain angles, so I don't
imagine crystals are all that alignable into new patterns. Wish
someone who knows whats going on would chime in. But this is all
pretty academic from a stone carving point of view.
